    Sometimes when many plugins are installed that offer editors for the same kind of file, say the *.xml extension, you can find yourself in a situation where you want to explicitly set the default editor for the file type and not have to deal with using the Right Click > Open With menu each time (though this is remembered for individual files).

    You can do that by navigating to the Window > Preferences > General > Editors > File Associations page, then you can find the extension you want to edit and below specify the default editor using the “Default” button on the appropriate editor.
