b.stoltefussMemberHi,
as we still use MyEclipse 6 i am currently trying to bring our team to 8.5.
I can’t tell you how much i dislike the switch to Pulse (we had our own processes/tools for team collaboration), but anyway, as you seem to dictate using pulse to your customers (or is there a way to go without pulse), i have a problem which i want to report as it seems to make usage impossible for us.When starting pulse i get the error: Unexpected failure SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target.
Pulse seems to be unable to work with the company https proxy, which uses a self-signed ssl certificate.
Is there a fix/workaround for this problem?
Regards,
Bernd
P.S.: Btw, what is supposed to be the advantage of pulse? It was very easy to deploy team plugins from a central point with a simple start script. Now we have to use pulse for it which seems to make the world just a “little” more complicated. The only advantage i was hoping for, central configuration and deployment of workspace/project settings, is not really done by pulse (at least not for important settings like application server settings, code formatting etc.) or did i miss something? I still hope i missed something, because i am really thinking about dropping MyEclipse, which we used for years in our team, because of Pulse.
support-joyMemberBernd ,
You can install multiple versions of ME on your workstation. The latest version is 8.6. Listed below are different ways to install ME –
(a) http://myeclipseide.com/module-htmlpages-display-pid-4.html – Accept the license agreement and click on the [download] link. This will redirect you to the next page, where you can download the all-in-one installer. Please ensure you validate that the installer file size and md5sum matches that mentioned in the download site
(b) https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-how-to-install-myeclipse-from-pulse/&highlight= – Install using pulse
(c) https://www.genuitec.com/forums/topic/installation-install-myeclipse-using-archived-update-site/&highlight= – Install using archived update site
Please note that the FAQs are based on 8.5, please use 8.6 wherever applicable.
After installing ME, you need to set up proxy information here – open MyEclipse IDE, from menu options click on Window > Prefrences > General > NetworkLet me know how this works for you.
Best.
support-joyMemberBernd ,
Adding to the above. If you need to setup proxy on pulse, turn on the [Caps Lock] and start pulse. This would prompt you if you would like to setup network proxies before continuing? Please choose [Yes]. This will redirect you to the pulse communications wizard, where you can choose to configure your network settings. Choose Manual Configuration and click on [Next]. Select HTTPS proxy entry and click on [Edit]. This will open another edit proxy entry where you can setup https proxy details. Hope this helps.
