Mike SuiterMemberi’m trying to deploy my .ear in weblogic 8.1 using the weblogic deploy methods, not the myeclipse deploy tool. the problem occurs when i have weblogic running in myeclipse. i can deploy using the methods just fine when running weblogic outside of myeclipse.
this happens when i try to deploy using the weblogic server console using the upload feature. this error occurs during the upload step.

this error happens when i try to copy my .ear to the mydomain/applications folder for auto-deploy. again, this works fine with weblogic running standalone, but i get this error with myeclipse:

i can run and debug weblogic in myeclipse with no problems. it’s when i try to deploy i run into problems. right now, i have to stop weblogic in myeclipse, start weblogic standalone, deploy my application, stop weblogic standalone, then start weblogic in myeclipse to debug. i have to do this for each code change.
also, i don’t have the time right to rearrange my eclipse projects to use the myeclipse deploy feature. i would think i could do it the way i’m trying. any help would be appreciated.
thanks.
Scott AndersonParticipantCan you please post the full configuration information that we request in the ‘Posting Guidelines’ thread at the top of this forum? That really helps us to poinpoint configuration problems quickly. It would also be helpful if you’d include all your Eclipse settings as retrieved from Help > About Eclipse Platform > Configuration Details

Scott AndersonParticipantOne thing that I used to notice on WLS 7.0 was that the original format of config.xml used to contain relative
paths. Can you check your config.xml file and see if any paths in it are relative? If so, could you try
backing it up somewhere safe and then making those paths absolute and restarting the server? Is
the behavior different?–Scott

Mike SuiterMemberhere is the config.xml for ‘mydomain’. it doesn’t appear to have relative paths

Scott AndersonParticipantOK, I’ve poured over your weblogic configuration and came up with a couple of possibilities.
First, I’ve identified a bug in our weblogic connector that causes an error when it configures
the library path. This may or may not be causing problems for you, but I found it when
I looked at this setting:com.genuitec.eclipse.easie.weblogic8/LIBRARY_PATH=”C\:\\JDKs\\jdk1.3.1\\bin;C\:\\bea\\weblogic81\\bin;C\:\\bea\\weblogic81\\server\\bin”
Note that it’s using JDK 1.3.1, instead of 1.4.2. The issue will be fixed in the 2.7 release,
but as a workaround please set your default JDK to be 1.4.2 in the Java > Installed JREs preference
page. You can check if this fixed the property by starting weblogic and then dumping the
configuration again and looking for the line above. The property is only written when
weblogic is started, so just changing the default then dumping the configuration won’t
yield the changed value. If that doesn’t do the trick, I’d also suggest first moving everything you’ve
put in the ‘Prepend to Classpath’ field to the ‘Append to Classpath’ field. If
that doesn’t correct the problem, try removing all the Weblogic libraries
you’re appending to the classpath, since WebLogic should include them
on its own anyway. What is the difference in behavior when doing any of this?

Mike SuiterMemberscott – first of all, thanks for the quick replies.
second, i changed to jdk 1.4.2 and verified this in the config details after starting weblogic. this didn’t fix the problem.
i then moved everything to append. i still get the error when uploading the file.
i can tell that the directory isn’t formatted correctly, i just don’t know how to fix this.
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Not a directory: C:\bea\user_projects\mydomain:\bea\user_projects\mydomain\myserver\upload\
Scott AndersonParticipantUnfortunately, I don’t know how to fix it either since we don’t ever refer to an ‘upload’ directory.
Did you enter it in your configuration anywhere? Can you check your settings against the ones in
the FAQ example here: http://www.myeclipseide.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=FAQ&file=index&myfaq=yes&id_cat=18&categories=Weblogic+8&parent_id=14–Scott

Mike SuiterMembermy configuration is setup just like the FAQ. the problem is real easy and quick to recreate. start weblogic 8.1 and the server console (http://localhost:7001/console). select deployments -> applications, then deploy a new application. select upload your file and follow the instructions. when you click the upload button, the error occurs.
maybe you have some other suggestons for deploying an .ear in weblogic 8.1 running in myeclipse? i have yet to be able to do this.
Scott AndersonParticipantmaybe you have some other suggestons for deploying an .ear in weblogic 8.1 running in myeclipse? i have yet to be able to do this.
Since we’ve established that you’re not using our deployer due to the complexity of your build, I’d suggest that you simply
add one more Ant task that copies your ear into your domains ‘applications’ subdirctory. WebLogic should pick it up
and deploy it properly. That’s effectively what our EAR-based deployer does anyway.I’ve also captured this problem into our internal tracking system so it can be investigated further.
