The bug that’s been bothering me through many editions of MyEclipse has finally made me post a feature request.
When you are behind a company firewall MyEclipse can’t access the internet. The Eclipse Marketplace can be accessed, but the “Choose Components” feature can’t access the internet. I don’t know why the one can and the other can’t.
I’m behind my company’s firewall, we have a proxy server which uses a proxy configuration script. So I don’t even know which proxy would be used, it’s an automatism. There’s an error message regarding proxy detection, which is fine. But that still doesn’t explain why the Eclipse Marketplace works while “Choose Components” doesn’t. What I’ll definitely not do is – like suggested in the error message – to enter my windows credentials into any application, not even MyEclipse, only that it can access the proxy and update some component via web. It’s a huge security risk.
I tried to install Matisse in MyEclipse 2015 Stable 1.0. Please either access the internet like other programs can and use the Internet Explorer settings or if not please provide web access.
And it would be very helpful to have a “Test Internet Connection” button in the network configuration settings dialog.
Thank you very much for the consideration.
