    Hello,

I installed a new clean copy of eclipse 3.3 and immediately performed a manual install of ME 6.0 (The MacOS X installer still does not workand hasn’t for several releases now). After ME successfully installed and re-started I went to install PyDev and Subclipse extensions and get the warning that there are duplication conflicts. These are rather important extensions for me – can you please suggest a way around the conflict?

    Thanks!

Can you list the conflicts you see (i.e. the log entries)? Is anything disabled?

Note: if you see log entries like “!MESSAGE Could not install bundle ../MyEclipse 6.0/eclipse/plugins/javax.servlet.jsp_2.0.0.v200706191603.jar Bundle “javax.servlet.jsp” version “2.0.0.v200706191603″ has already been installed from: update@plugins/javax.servlet.jsp_2.0.0.v200706191603.jar” – this is a known issue and can be ignored. It does not break anything.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Detected conflicts include:

    Eclipse XML Editors and Tools
    WST Common Core
    WST Common UI
    WST XML Core

As an aside, I did not see these conflicts w/ 6.0M1. I see the same conflicts on Mac OSX and Linux.

Can you elaborate? I tested the installer and it worked just fine.

How do you detect the conflicts? Is it some dialog window, log entry or something else?

It’s a warning from eclipse as I prepare to complete the installation. After I select packages to install and accept the license agreement.

    I did as follows:
    1. Installed Eclipse SDK 3.3 (MacOS X/Carbon)
    2. Used ME 6.0 installer for Mac to install MyEclipse.
    3. Configured PyDev & Subclipse update sites. (see instructions on their sites)
    4. Installed core PyDev and Subclipse using the update manager.

Upon restart both PyDev and Subclipse were installed and available (i.e. I see their UI). I haven’t seen any warnings either as dialogs or as log entries.

The Mac installer is also not working for me. Any pointers would be appreciated, either to how to get the installer to run or on how to install myeclipse manually.

Please explain what are the problems you are facing.
    I install with following parameters:
    1. Eclipse is installed in the folder different from Applications (i.e. ~/work/MyEclipse/eclipse)
    2. MyEclipse is installed alongside the Eclipse (~/work/MyEclipse/MyEclipse 6.0)
    3. Shortcuts are placed on the Dock.

When I launch the Mac Installer, it starts, but immediately quits. No error message or screen at all.

Is there anything printed in the console? (Start /Applications/Utilities/Console.app).
I’m using 10.4.10/Intel and default Java (1.5.0_07) and installer runs just fine.

No, nothing is printed on the console. A brief “flash”,some slight movement on the toolbar like an running application was being added, and then gone. All over in much less than a second.

After unzipping I’m launching MyEclipse_6.0GA_E3.3_Installer. This is a 10.4.10/jdk1.5.0_07 machine but it is a PowerPC G4. Do you expect the installer to only work on Intel Macs? By the way, I did grab a fresh copy of the installer just in case.

    Thanks!

It should work on both… Did it work for 5.5 and older?

Thanks for your reply Eugene. No it didn’t work on 5.5 either – same symptoms.
