I have just installed Eclipse 3.0.2 on Feddora RC2, and cannot execute ant build files.
Error messages I am getting are:

    1. In response to Run | External Tools | build-file
Referenced classpath provider does not exist: org.eclipse.ant.ui.AntClasspathProvider

    2. In response to Run | External Tools…
Exception occurred creating launch configuration tabs
    Reason:
No tab group defined for launch configuration type
    org.eclipse.ant.AntLaunchConfigurationType

What must I do to enable support for ant ?

    Bill.

    Bill,
Ant support from Eclispe (not MyEclipse) should work out of the box, if it doesn’t then there is an install issue that is causing problems. I would suggest redownloading Eclipse SDK (make sure it’s the SDK) and trying to run a fresh install of it with no other plugins installed.

    Thanks Riyad,
I realized in retrospect, that I should not really have posted this issue here, but on the eclipse newsgroups. My apologies.

FWIW, I have found a workaround, for what appears to be an ecli-pse bug, whereby the eclipse registry becomes corrupted. The workaround is a one-time start of eclipse with the -clean option, which initializes the registry, and thereafter the ant functionality works.

    Hi,

The solution is quite simple. Follow the steps.

    1. Close the Eclipse.
    2. Just go to /Eclipse/workspace/.metadata folder.
    3. Delete .registry and .lock files.
    4. Open the Eclipse now..

i guess this vil solve ur problem with eclipse.
