I just installed 7.5 of MyEclipse and every time I try to run it, it crashes and generates an hs_err_pid*.log file. I’ve pasted the contents of this file below. Would appreciate any help actually getting this working.

Shane,

Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Can you answer few queries for me to get to the root cause?
1. How did you try to install MyEclipse? Is it a fresh install or an upgrade? Can you give more details. Have you downloaded the all in one installer file from the download site or used Eclipse 3.4.2 and added MyEclipse?
2. What is the version of MyEclipse?
3. Can you copy and paste your installation details? You can get it from MyEclipse IDE menu MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Details. In case you cannot open MyEclipse IDE, can you give me details regarding your OS and hardware like if it is 32 bit/64 bit and also copy and paste the contents of your MyEclipse.ini file. (you can get it here – ~\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.5\myeclipse.ini)
4. Also can you attach contents of your log file. It is located at [your workspace dir]/.metadata/.log
5. Are you behind a firewall/proxy?

Have you had prior installs of MyEclipse? In that case, I would suggest you to have a clean install. Please follow the below steps –
1. Run the uninstaller.
2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under \AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under is erased as well

The easiest way to get an install is to download the manual installer from the MyEclipse download page. It’s listed as option #5. This is simply Eclipse 3.4.2 with MyEclipse installed off an archived update site that is included in the download. Simply unzip it and run ‘eclipse.exe’ and you’re done.

Thank you for the details. I think the firewall is preventing you to completely install MyEclipse. Can you please enable the installer to download the relevant files through your firewall?
Else, the recommended approach In this scenario, is to perform a clean install. Please follow the below steps –
1. Run the uninstaller.
2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed – \Pulse or \Genuitec,
3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under is erased as well
4. Please download the manual installer from the MyEclipse download page. It’s listed as option #5. This is simply Eclipse 3.4.2 with MyEclipse installed off an archived update site that is included in the download. Simply unzip it and run ‘eclipse.exe’ and you should be all set.

Hi,

I’ve followed all of the posted instructions and this is still happening. I don’t see how the firewall is involved in this since It is already fully installed, it just won’t run. Can you point out the line in the output where you think the firewall is impacting? I have not been able to use this software since I paid for it and am about to ask for my money back. Please tell me how to fix this.

My sincere apologies that you haven’t been able to install MyEclipse. You have a corrupted install, I will try to list out the missing files from your log file –

Your MyEclipse profile has a lot of missing files. 9 out of 10 causes are firewall prevents a user from downloading the installer completely. The best way is to perform a clean install. I would recommend you to follow the below step –
1. Run the uninstaller.
2. Make sure the MyEclipse Install Directory has been completely removed
2.1. Pulse Install Directory, on XP it’s under C:\Program Files in \Pulse or \Genuitec, and on Vista it’s under \AppData\Local and then under \Pulse or \Genuitec again
3. Then make sure the pulse2.locator file under is erased as well
4. Install MyEclipse using any of the listed options here – http://www.myeclipseide.com/index.php?name=Downloads&req=viewsdownload&sid=31 or use pulse to download MyEclipse.

If you are in a hurry, then I would recommend you to download the manual installer from the MyEclipse download page. It’s listed as option #5. This is simply Eclipse 3.4.2 with MyEclipse installed off an archived update site that is included in the download. Simply unzip it and run ‘eclipse.exe’ and you’re done.

I had already tried the manual install after a complete and thorough uninstall. Unfortunately it still did not work.

Sorry to hear that manual installer is not working for you. Can you copy and paste pulse.handshake.id from pulse2.properties file? Look for the file here – ~\Genuitec\Common\configuration\pulse2.properties
Have you verified the download size and md5sum of the installer file? Are you getting any error? Can you attach screenshot? You can [PM] me the screenshots, please refer to this thread, this will help me in quick tracking.
