The upgrade did not work. I had to uninstall and manually delete all folders and re-install the latest version. I hope they have fixed this issue in this new version

From your above post, I couldn’t tell if the problem is fixed with the re-install to MyEclipse 7.1.1, can you please clarify? What was the version of MyEclipse you were using when you encountered this error, and what is your current version of MyEclipse? May I request you to copy and paste your installation details here. You need to go to MyEclipse > Installation Summary > Installation Detail

The problem is fixed not by an upgrade but by re-install of MyEclipse. I installed the current version on the website 7.1.1 and I will never ever face this issue cause I did not change the directories. You will have to change directories during install and upgrade the next version(when released) to see if the problem is fixed

Trying to install 7.1.1 on Window XP SP2 – Right after the verify profile part of the install it fails with “Unable to write to repository: file:/C:/Program Files/Genuitec/Pulse Explorer. This happens to users that are both explicitly defined as local administrators or those that are in Global Groups. But it is not consistant. Sometimes users that are defined as members of a GG in the local Admins group work. Very cunfusing and does not make sense. The permissions on the folder are ‘special’ permissions and all permissions are checked to allow full control. So I am not sure what is happening during the verify profile part of the install – but there is something wrong. Any clues as to why this would be happening?

Sorry to hear you are facing this issue. To help me investigate, can you answer few questions –
1. what is your system configuration? What is the OSx, is it 32 bit or 64 bit?
2. Are you behind any firewall or using NTLM proxies?
3. How did you install MyEclipse? Meaning – using the all-in-one installer, using pulse, using Eclipse 3.4.1 Classic – adding MyEclipse 7.1.1 update site?

Have you tried to use the archived update site? I would recommend you to download the archived update site which is the 4th option in the download page. Please verify the file size and md5sum of the downloaded installer. Let me know if you are still facing any issues.

Windows xp professional, 32 bit, behind corp firewall using NTLM – none of that was the issue though, was it? the problem was that I installed the MyEclipse files in a “custom” location which was causing my .ini file to be wiped out any time I tried to install a plugin. not to mention pulse was not remembering my credentials either….
I was using the fall stack install.

I have since installed eclipse classic 3.4 and used the update site for MyEclipse and it is working fine.

How can I start myeclipse without administrator permissions?

I have:
Windows Vista Ultimate
MyEclipseIDE 7.1 (installed under: C:\Program Files\Genuitec\MyEclipse 7.1)

When I start the eclipse with “Run as Administrator” then all works fine, but when I (I’m lokal administrator) start the application then I can choose the workspace and click ok, the application crashes without a log entry.

I there any good workaroud or fix for this problem?

I guess the only workaround would be to give the user administrative permissions since you need administrative permissions to run ME.

To run Eclipse or one of the derivates like MyEclipse from a Program Files subdirectory on Vista requires you to turn off UAC. That is the reason the AIO installer suggests the C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local install directory prefix instead of Program Files! If you want a global installation just remove the prefix with something all users are allowed to read and write, like C:\Tools.
The exact instructions on how to relocate the Pulse installation are written down somewhere else on this forum, I don’t have the procedure at hand, but I assume the current installer handles a location change from the installer-UI as expected?

BTW, informatec, you should have started a new thread(topic), it’s only slightly related to the previous contents of this thread, and you deserve full attention from the support guys & gals’ 🙂

My old myeclipse was installed under: “C:\Program Files\MyEclipse 6.0\eclipse\eclipse.exe” and it works fine. This means that something has changed. It normaly install programs under the windows default folder (C:\program files).

But I have to live with this, that I have to install myEclipse to an other location.
